Can someone help me out with some info on the following Ford Tractors. 4000, 4600, 3000, 3600. A local dealer has a few of each of these models and I was wondering if I could get some input on them. History, durability, pro and cons,prices etc. I know its asking alot, but any info would be appreciated. Thank You

I can't tell you much,but maybe this will give you a little info. I have a 4000 diesel,about 1964.It's an industrial model(yellow/Blue). I rebuilt the engine 5 years ago,and have been pleased with the tractor.you don't have the comfort level of modern tractors,but it's a workhorse.I've gat a front loader on it,and can pick up about anything I want to.It pulls a 5.5 ft hardee bushog without any problem. It's a good all around tractor if you don't need any frills. ....

information there. That site contains information on a number of
older models like Farmall, too. ....

I am looking for a list of part numbers / brands or reference to aftermarket parts for the Ford 1720 tractor. Specifically oil / fuel / hydraulic filters, and muffler and sheetmetal parts. Its not that I am trying to make my local Ford Dealer starve, but there is no way I am paying 37.00 USD for a hydraulic filter 15.00 for the fuel filter....22.00 for a oil filter....nor 192.00 for the damned exhaust system. It was bad enough paying 107.00 for a new ignition switch and now he wants 450.00 for each fender.........that the son managed to wrinkle up when he got tangled up in some vines while bush hogging.
Any info greatly appreciated ....

Face the same thing myself (1710 in my case). There have been really long threads on this and other boards about after market supplier filters, oils etc..
I think some web sites where filter numbers are cross-referenced are identified
in some of the posts (here or tractorbytel).
For myself, after reading all the posts, there is considerable doubt in my mind that all after market substitutes are of equal quality or function to dealer parts. Anyway, I'll stick with dealer parts until I can do a bunch more checking. Filters, even dealer ones, aren't a big expence unless big hours are put on the tractor. Filters cost a little, while tractors cost a lot. Cheap filters may not be a good bet. ....
